Pronunciation

Surname is pronounced "Pit'-lick." I've heard some strange permutations of the name in banks, retail stores, and by telephone solicitors, and received the most bizarre written versions in direct response mail.

Call sign history

The Spy call sign was bestowed by friends in the VFA-13 "Shadow Riders" squadron as a result of my thorough knowledge of enemy aircraft statistics. What can I say, I'm a research guy. After pointing out that the nose design of a particular Russian-built aircraft was not accurately portrayed by a flight simulation program, the skipper came up with my call sign. The Shadow Riders are a group of aviation enthusiasts including some active fighter pilots who discuss various issues related to flying.
