the joy of working out As humorist Dave Barry says, when you commit yourself to a life of hard physical exercise, you'll be so used to pain that when you get old and all your friends begin to slow down because of their aching bodies, it will all be a familiar routine to you. Fact is, you grow old, then you die (if you're lucky enough to live that long). Growing old is not for sissies. But given the choice of growing old fit or growing old out of shape, I can't imagine choosing the couch potato lifestyle. Working out makes you feel fresh, energetic, young and alive. There's nothing like it, even with the pain you go through in the process. Here are some useful articles on fitness, cycling, and nutrition. At the time no copies existed on the Web, though there are other versions online today. If you're into fitness, you'll enjoy this simple yet rigorous program. There's nothing like starting the day at 6AM with a solid hour or more of exercise, especially on a bike in the fresh pre-dawn air. On summer weekends I'll get out on my road bike for 2-5 hour rides -- one of the best ways to maintain low body fat. Here are some safety tips for cyclists and drivers. |
