Deliver us from evil
Name above all names: the return of Jesus

Jesus Claimed that He Would Return

Not only did Jesus live, die, and resurrect himself, but he promised that he would come back again to collect his church:

"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep and the goats."
(Matthew 24:27-30; Matthew 25:31-32)

What do You Think?

Read Luke 4:14-22, and 4:43. What did Jesus claim as his purpose in life?

Read Luke 10:25-28. What did Jesus point to as being most important thing in life?

Prophecies arranged?

Some critics of the Bible respond to the challenge of prophecy by claiming that Jesus arranged all the events of his life to match the predictions.

While he could certainly have arranged to minister in Galilee, and obviously arranged to ride into Jerusalem on a donkey, there are really no other prophecies that he could have arranged.

He could not have arranged his birthplace, his virgin birth, his ancestral lineage, his betrayal for 30 pieces of silver, the use of that money, or the treatment by the Roman soldiers. Yet the final evidence for these prophecies is yet to come.
